Govt takes Church property in lieu of abuse payouts

The Government is close to securing nearly €20m of property from religious orders in a deal to compensate the victims of clerical abuse, it emerged tonight.

The department of education expects to sign on 32 portfolios as part of the deal agreed by the last Government.
