Broadcasting Commission extends station contracts

The Broadcasting Commission has extended contracts of CKR FM and Radio Kilkenny.

They can now keep broadcasting until November 15 and 30 respectively.

The commission is negotiating contracts with new radio stations for Kilkenny and the Carlow/Kildare area, but they have not been concluded.

The BCI said the decision to extend contracts for the existing stations is because there is no dedicated local alternatives available in those counties.
