The number of patients in Ireland’s psychiatric hospitals fell by 15% last year, according to the Inspector of Mental Hospitals’ latest annual report.

The report welcomed improvements in care facilities for psychiatric patients and the establishment of a commission to review the cases of patients who have been detained involuntarily.
