Two islands off the west coast of Ireland have been connected to the ESB network for the first time.

Two islands off the west coast of Ireland have been connected to the ESB network for the first time.

The residents of Inishturk and Inishturbot South had previously been using private generators as their only source of power.

The work to connect them to the ESB network cost €157,000, the majority of which came from the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
