SDLP: People cannot be spectators to UUP soap opera

In reaction to today’s decision by a majority of the UUP Council to back the Trimble amendment, SDLP leader, Mark Durkan, said the political process had come to a standstill.

People in the North, he said, cannot be asked to be bystanders spectating on the endless soap opera played out in the Ulster Unionist Council.

He added that the pro-agreement parties and both governments must collectively determine to take the agreement forward.
