Nicotine products ‘should be in Drug Payment Scheme’
The Irish Pharmaceutical Union has called on the Government to bring nicotine replacement products under the remit of the Drug Payment Scheme.
Under the scheme, any individual or family who spends more than €70 per month on prescription drugs can have the surplus refunded by the Government.
The IPU claimed that the inclusion of nicotine replacement products in the scheme would help reduce smoking in Ireland and would save the Government money in the long term.
