Two questioned over Omagh bombing

A man and woman were being questioned today by detectives investigating the Omagh bomb atrocity.

They were detained in the Jonesborough area of south Armagh, police said.

The couple were held in a major security operation which also involved troops.

The arrests came as relatives of the Omagh victims urged Justice Minister Michael McDowell to allow Garda witnesses to testify in a civil action they are bringing against four men they claim were involved in the August 1998 outrage which left 29 people dead, one of them a pregnant mother expecting twins.

Nobody has yet been charged with any of the murders.
