ASH welcomes Taoiseach's smoking comments

Anti-smoking lobby group ASH Ireland has welcomed the Taoiseach’s comments today on the proposed smoking ban.

The group says Mr Ahern’s comments highlight the importance of the ban as a health issue as opposed to an economic one.

Bertie Ahern attended a conference at UCD in Dublin this morning where he spoke on the smoking issue and insisted the Government would not be compromising on the ban.

Fenton Howell from Ash Ireland says the Taoiseach has been consistent in his approach to workers rights.
