Greens: Public will bear the brunt of complacency

The Green Party says taxpayers will be forced to pay the price for the Government's failure to implement European laws on waste management.

The European Commission has given Ireland a final warning on enforcing the laws, and may face fines if their warning is not acted upon.

Green TD Dan Boyle said today that it was an embarrassment for the country, given that Ireland is taking over the EU presidency in January.
