UNICEF Ireland pays tribute to Iraqi co-ordinator
UNICEF Ireland has paid tribute to the organisation's programme co-ordinator in Iraq, who died in yesterday's bomb attack on the UN headquarters in Baghdad.
32-year-old Christopher Klein-Beekman was among at least 20 people killed when a suicide bomber drove a cement truck packed with explosives into the building yesterday afternoon.
UNICEF Ireland's executive director, Maura Quinn, said Mr Klein-Beekman was a committed aid worker who was well-regarded by everybody who worked with him, particularly the Iraqi staff under his command.
