Gardaí in Co Louth are continuing to question a 49-year-old man after smashing one of the most sophisticated forgery operations in the history of the State.

Gardaí in Co Louth are continuing to question a 49-year-old man after smashing one of the most sophisticated forgery operations in the history of the State.

The illegal high-tech printing operation was uncovered in a search of a premises in the Hanlon Park area of Dundalk last night.

A large quantity of documents were seized, including passports, driving licences, insurance certs, tax books, ESB bills, bank drafts and health and safety certs.

In a follow-up search at Ravensdale, close to the border, more documents and computer parts were found.
