Divers hospitalised after suffering 'bends'

Two divers have been rescued in Co Clare and taken to hospital after getting into difficulty in deep waters.

Diving off the coast of Kilkee, a man and a woman, both in their 20s, are understood to have suffered decompression sickness.

A Shannon helicopter transferred both divers to University College Hospital in Galway.

Both divers will now be treated in a decompression chamber as they are suffering from what is known as the 'bends'.
