The Bank of Ireland tonight said its Automatic Teller Machine system had operated normally today, despite a 24-hour strike by staff at its computer headquarters.

The stoppage began at midnight and involved more than 200 employers protesting at job security terms on offer following the company’s decision to outsource information technology to the American Hewlett Packard multinational.
