Sinn Féin is calling for an emergency summit between Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The party says the current impasse in the Northern peace process is unaccepable to republicans.

The party's leader in the Dáil, Caoimhín O'Caoláin says the political process is being held hostage by the anti-Agreement faction of the Ulster Unionist Party.

He says the Taoiseach must demand Assembly elections in the Autumn.
