Builders to make submission on house prices
The Irish Home Builders' Association and the Construction Industry Federation are due to make a submission to the Oireachtas committee on the Constitution this afternoon.
The committee is currently examining the possibility of a constitutional referendum to dilute property rights in an effort to reduce the cost of land and housing in Ireland.
The Home Builders' Association, which is opposed to any changes in property rights, has claimed the only way to reduce house prices would be to improve infrastructure in undeveloped areas to pave the way for increased supply of housing.
