Beaumont Hospital cancels non-essential surgery

Dublin's Beaumont Hospital has cancelled all non-essential surgery today to help ease overcrowding at it's A&E Department.

There was a backlog of up to 60 people at one stage over the weekend.

In a written statement, the hospital says it had pre-empted the crisis and a number of measures were undertaken to reduce pressure ahead of the weekend.
