Police in the North have launched an investigation after a number of homes in West Belfast were evacuated due to a security alert on the Stuartstown Road.

Police in the North have launched an investigation after a number of homes in West Belfast were evacuated due to a security alert on the Stuartstown Road.

A controlled explosion was carried out on a device which was was discovered in a sports bag on a bus in the area.

It's understood that two masked man had ordered the driver of the bus to take them to Woodburn police station.

A shop was also evacuated and a number of items were removed for forensic examination.
