Mitchell hits out at No Fares 'stunt'

Fine Gael's Olivia Mitchell has warned that taxpayers must not end up footing the bill for today's no fares protest organised by CIE workers.

“All revenue lost as a result of the 'No Fares Day' stunt should be recouped through one of, or a combination of, the following three options:

Describing the protest as a "PR stunt", Deputy Mitchell warned an "extremely dangerous precedent has now been set".

"What would happen if ESB workers refused to send out bills or if Aer Rianta workers refused to accept payment at car parks or in duty free shops?" asked Deputy Mitchell.
