Bomb defused near Portadown
Army bomb disposal experts have made safe what they described as an improvised horizontal explosive device around ten miles from Portadown.
Delores Kelly, an SDLP councillor in Upper Bann, condemned those responsible for leaving the device at the side of the Guildford to Banbridge Road.
She said: “Today there was relief from all sides with the peaceful passing of the Drumcree Orange Order march.
“Unfortunately however there are still others who are intent on causing tension and putting peoples lives at risk.
“Luckily this device was discovered before it caused injury but the residents in the area who were evacuated from their homes will certainly be distressed at what could have happened.”
