SF: verdict shows need for Finucane inquiry

Sinn Fein national chairman Mitchel McLaughlin said the verdict of the European Court of Human Rights made the case for a full independent inquiry into Pat Finucane’s murder even stronger.

“The identities of those involved in the killing of Pat Finucane are well known,” he said.

“The fact that agencies of the British state used the UDA (Ulster Defence Association) to carry out this killing is beyond doubt.

“What is required now is a full independent judicial inquiry to establish exactly who authorised and planned this killing where the chain of command leads to.”
