Fine Gael's Seanad leader Brian Hayes has called on the Minister for Transport, Seamus Brennan, to reconsider the granting of an operators licence to Connex Ireland for the new LUAS system.

Fine Gael's Seanad leader Brian Hayes has called on the Minister for Transport, Seamus Brennan, to reconsider the granting of an operators licence to Connex Ireland for the new LUAS system.

Senator Hayes was speaking after Connex Ireland's sister company lost its franchise in South-East England.

"Serious questions be raised about the selection procedure, which awarded Connex the licence

in the first place," said Senator Hayes.

"The entire handling of the Luas project by the Fianna Fail led Government is ludicrous. People of Dublin deserve better and it is about time the Government recognised and respected this," he added.
