Call for inquiry into symphysiotomies

Expecting mothers who underwent symphysiotomies between the 1950s and 1960s are expected to call for a public inquiry into how the procedures were carried out in hospitals.

A symphysiotomy is an operation during which a woman's pelvis is broken or deliberately parted to allow for childbirth.
