120 jobs to go at Lucent Technologies
120 jobs are to go at Dublin-based US telecom company, Lucent Technologies.
The jobs will go at the company's operation in Cherrywood in south Dublin. The remaining 50 staff will be transferred to the company's base in Blanchardstown.
According to the company, staff who are affected by the most recent cuts will have the opportunity to apply for jobs in Spain or India and are being offered redundancy packages.
The 120 job cuts come in addition to 60 cuts made in the company's Bray facility in May following its 12th quarterly loss in a row.
The company has suffered disastrously from cutbacks by major telecom operators and has made 50,000 staff redundant over the past two years alone.
