Health committee calls for 'fatty foods' tax

The chairman of the Oireachtas Health Committee is calling for a tax to be placed on fatty foods to tackle the growing levels of obesity in the country.

Deputy Batt O'Keeffe says the tax could be used as a weapon to stop food producers pumping cheap fat into what we eat.
