The trial of the alleged leader of the Real IRA is due to begin at Dublin’s Special Criminal Court this week.

Michael McKevitt is the first person to be charged with directing terrorism in Ireland under the terms of legislation introduced by the Government after the 1998 Real IRA bombing of Omagh.
