Dempsey orders review of third-level capital spending

Education Minister Noel Dempsey has reportedly ordered a review to introduce fresh spending cuts at Ireland's third-level institutions.

Under the minister's plans, all colleges and universities would have to justify their capital spending plans to a specially established working group, which would have the final say on whether or not the projects could proceed.
