An international team of rowers was today beginning an epic sea voyage recreating the route taken by Saint Columba in the sixth century.

An international team of rowers was today beginning an epic sea voyage recreating the route taken by Saint Columba in the sixth century.

The crossing, from Ireland to the island of Iona, off the west coast of Scotland, will commemorate the 1440th anniversary of the journey which brought Christianity to Scotland in the year 563.
