UUP meets later to discuss Royal Irish Regiment

The Ulster Unionist Party's executive committee meets later today to discuss plans for rescuing the Royal Irish Regiment.

The British government had been planning to scrap the three battalions of the regiment based in the North - provided the IRA threat ended - but is now expected to do a u-turn.
