Man injures policeman at checkpoint in the North

A man is due to appear in court in Co Down this morning charged with seriously injuring a policeman who was dragged hundreds of yards down a road by a car trying to escape a routine police traffic check.

The 21-year-old faces seven charges including causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving.
