UN to send Irish troops to Congo

Irish troops have moved a step closer to deployment in the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of an international peacekeeping force.

The United Nations has this afternoon authorised a French-led force to go to the Central African country, where ethnic fighting is spiralling out of control.
