The Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland has said that discharges from Sellafield are still the largest source of artificial radioactivity in the Irish Sea.

In a report published today, the RPII said Irish people are exposed to this radioactivity through the consumption of fish and shellfish, but it said the levels of contamination appeared to have reached a plateau in recent years.
