More than a quarter of all complaints to the Law Society last year were accounted for by just 71 solicitors, according to a report by the Law Society's independent adjudicator.

Dr Eamon Condon said the solicitors, who represented 1% of the total number of solicitors practising in Ireland, were the subject of 26% of all complaints.

"[The Law Society] should look at each case on its merits and decide how appropriate it is to continue to issue practising certificates to solicitors who continually feature in this particular category," Dr Condon said.
