The Vintners' Federation says it wants its members to stop operating happy hours and other drinks promotions which it says are contributing to late-night violence.

The VFI, which is holding its annual conference in Letterkenny today, says such activities bring the pub trade into disrepute.

However, Chief Executive Tadhg O'Sullivan admits that if individual publicans want to continue such promotions, there is nothing the Vintners Federation can do.
