The North's political parties are surveying the wreckage this morning following the British government's controversial decision to postpone the upcoming Assembly elections until the autumn.

The Irish and British governments blamed the IRA for the postponement, saying it had failed to promise an end to punishment beatings, intelligence gathering, weapons procurement, training and other activities.
