Man charged with murdering farmer

A man of 52 has been charged with murdering an elderly farmer in Co Clare.

Jack Daly, 83, was found dead yesterday in his farmhouse he shared with his younger sister near the village of Bellharbour.

Police later arrested a 52-year-old man and took away a number of items from the victim’s home, including a hatchet.

Tulla District Court last night remanded the accused in custody until next Wednesday.
