The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has urged the Government to implement adequate vetting procedures for people wishing to work with children.

The ISPCC said Junior Minister Brian Lenihan had promised to introduce the measures, but Justice Minister Michael McDowell had failed to follow through on the promise.
