Plans for incinerator shelved

Plans for a controversial incinerator in Tipperary have been shelved.

The meat and bonemeal incinerator was being planned by animal rendering company Ronan Industries at its plant at Rosegreen, on the main Cashel to Clonmel road.

The company is withdrawing its planning and EPA applications.

Racehorse trainer Aidan O'Brien had been among those protesting against the plan.

O’Brien congratulated the Ronan family on a decision "that should restore harmony in the community".
