The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has told the Dail that the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors has no right to decide whether or not gardai implement the planned extension of the penalty points scheme.

The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has told the Dail that the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors has no right to decide whether or not gardai implement the planned extension of the penalty points scheme.

The AGSI has threatened not to co-operate with the proposed extension until a computer system to implement it is operational.
