Haass arrives for talks with North parties

Richard Haass, the US Government's special envoy to Ireland, is holding talks with the main political parties in the North today following yesterday's setback in the peace process.

The Irish and British governments were due to unveil their proposals for restoring the suspended Assembly and Executive yesterday, but they cancelled their plans after hearing that the IRA was not prepared to decommission and disband.
