Dublin pub shooting victim dies overnight
A man died in hospital early today after being shot in the head in a gangland-style attack in a bar near the centre of Dublin.
The shooting happened at the Horse and Jockey pub in the Inchicore district of the capital last night.
The 33-year-old victim, who was from Dublin’s Coolock district, was known to gardai and had survived a number of recent attempts on his life. He was recently cleared in court on charges of importing drugs into Ireland.
He was understood to have been carrying a gun and wearing a bullet-proof jacket at the time of the shooting.
Reports indicated that the gunman walked into the pub about five minutes after his victim and opened fire.
