IMO doctors to go on strike
The Irish Medical Organisation's Public Health Committee today issued notice of strike by more than 270 doctors following the refusal by the Department of Health and Children to abide by an agreement reached nine years ago.
The Public Health Doctors are currently on a work-to-rule, and will commence strike action on Monday, April 14.
IMO Vice President and Chairman of the Public Health Committee, Dr. Joe Barry, said: "This was not a decision taken lightly. The failure of the HSEA to engage in meaningful negotiations has forced the doctors to serve notice of strike action."
