Kenny to lead FG delegation to North

Fine Gael leader, Enda Kenny, will lead a party delegation on a visit to the North today.

Mr Kenny will visit Holy Cross School in Ardoyne and meet the main political parties.

Enda Kenny's visit comes as the political parties await the blueprint from the Irish and British governments to break the deadlock in the peace process and restore devolution.

He says he will be using the visit to reiterate Fine Gael's commitment to the Good Friday Agreement and urge the parties to grasp the opportunity to reach a deal in advance of the forthcoming Assembly elections.

He will be accompanied by two party TDs and three Senators when he makes his first visit this morning to Holy Cross School in north Belfast, scene of a loyalist blockade last year.

He will then visit a Co-operation Ireland youth project at Clonard Monastery in west Belfast before making a lunchtime speech to the Northern Ireland Government Affairs Group.

This afternoon, he will meet Sinn Fein, the Ulster Unionist Party, the SDLP and finally with Hugh Orde, the chief constable of the PSNI.
