FG to seek new funding for Iraqi crisis
Fine Gael will introduce a private members' motion in the Dáil today urging the Government to allocate funding to humanitarian projects in Iraq.
The motion calls on the Fianna Fail-Progressive Democrats coalition to allocate new funds to alleviate the Iraqi crisis, rather than diverting money from existing aid budgets.
Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has written to the leaders of all the parties in the Dáil to seek support for the motion, which also calls on the Government to ensure that the United Nations plays the lead role in dealing with the humanitarian situation in Iraq.
