Vatican fuels rumours about Connell's future

The Vatican has sparked fresh speculation about the resignation of Cardinal Desmond Connell after blocking him from selling certain church lands.

The Vatican said the sale of Clonliffe College in Dublin was a decision for Cardinal Connell's successor.

It also said any decision on the replacement of two auxiliary bishops was up to the Cardinal's successor.
