Ahern orders study into cod stocks

Marine Minister Dermot Ahern has ordered a study into cod stocks off the coast of Co Donegal in an effort to help devise conservation methods.

The Marine Institute will lead the study, which will begin with an evaluation of the potential benefits of a seasonal closure of the Greencastle codling fishery in order to protect juvenile cod.
