Armagh shooting said to be linked to paramilitaries

The killing of a man in the Co Armagh village of Culloville appears to be linked to republican paramilitary activity in the area.

The man died in hospital in Co Louth after being shot in the leg and chest outside a supermarket in the village this morning.

A second man who also suffered leg injuries in the shooting is recovering in hospital in Newry, Co Down.

The incident, the fourth shooting in the area in the last two months, happened at around 10am.

The dead man is believed to be related to the victim of one of the other attacks and to have had connections with mainstream republicans.

Meanwhile, a third man has been taken to hospital in Dundalk after being dumped from a car near the Co Louth town shortly after 12 noon.

The man had gunshot wounds to his neck, but it is unclear if his injuries are related to the Co Armagh shootings.
