Police smash illegal fuel plant

Police and customs officers have smashed a major illegal fuel plant in Northern Ireland, it has emerged.

The authorities seized 14,000 litres of contaminated fuel during the raid in Co Armagh yesterday.

The sophisticated plant, which could manufacture up to 50,000 litres a week, was discovered in an industrial unit off the Moy Road.

Piles of sludge and toxic waste were also found during the dismantling operation.
