McKenna to meet with senior UN officials in New York
Green MEP Patricia McKenna is to travel to New York later today to meet with senior UN officials.
Ms McKenna is part of a European delegation who will hold discussions with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Chief Weapons Inspector Hans Blix.
The delegation intend to express their wish to see further weapons inspections carried out.
Patricia McKenna says she is fearful that a second UN resolution would give warmongers the excuse they need to launch an attack on Iraq.
"Members of the security council are being either blackmailed, bullied - agreeing to a second UN resolution. And some of these countries you can understand that they are economically very vulnerable and the United States is putting pressure on those states by offering them certain things or by threatening certain actions with them."
