The cost of extra security and gardai at Shannon airport for the protest later today has been estimated at €1m.

Local Fianna Fail Senator Timmy Dooley says that 500 extra gardai will be deployed at Shannon to monitor the protest. He has said the whole event is a waste of tax-payers money.
