Navy detains Spanish fishing vessel

The Irish Navy has detained an Irish-registered Spanish fishing vessel after it allegedly failed to provide a safe means of access for a naval inspection team.

The Irish Navy has detained an Irish-registered Spanish fishing vessel after it allegedly failed to provide a safe means of access for a naval inspection team.

The Dinish was detained by officers from the LE Aisling after one of the inspectors was slightly injured while trying to board the trawler.

The Dinish, the second vessel to be detained by the LE Aisling this week, is currently being escorted to Castletownbere in Co Cork.
